Memories That Became a World

Reminisce With Me

Welcome to Remembrance, a passion project that’s lived in my head day and night for over 12 years (seriously, I dream about this almost every night.)

On this website, you will find sections explaining the deep world-building and magic system, as well as stories taking place in this world.

All feedback is genuinely appreciated!

Content Warning

Please be aware that all of these stories may contain mature themes, graphic depictions of violence, and myriads of other subject matters that place them all well within the 18+ category. These elements are not included for mere shock value or gratuity; they are essential to the narrative and exist to serve the plot. As such, they are also inseparable from this story.

This does not mean every ‘page’ will reek of gratuitous violence. Rather, it implies the refusal to shy away from such depictions when they are called for.

Notably, a core tenet of the narrative of To Bleed A Demon centers on the near-extinction of a people, a violence that drives the two protagonists into dire straits.

Finally, please note that while these stories are not written to cater to any specific demographic, LGBTQ+ representation is a natural part of our world, and thus it is of theirs. This is especially true in godless / Godless, where the cyberpunk setting naturally pushes the boundaries of identity. If the inclusion of LGBTQ+ themes and content makes you uncomfortable, the written stories will not be a good fit for you.

Reader discretion is advised.

There is a computer bug on this website: if you are in reader mode, then go to an index, such as this one, the button for reader mode will vanish. It will reappear in any non-index note. Also, reader mode doesn’t work on mobile.

The world was once a coherent land where, given sufficient time, one could walk from edge to edge without impedance. But now, it remains little more than a dying memory. Its vast lands splintered, fragmenting into a mosaic of enclaves of miniature worlds, the glue binding them together a treacherous, infinite plane.

Civilization adapted, anchoring itself within those secluded worlds and venturing onto the infinite planes only to travel between them. But the world still withers. Whether it be the infinite planes where the world forgot its own rules, or the enclaves that are slowly eroding as memory fades, all places will rot.

The Remembrance is a grimdark survival story spanning four pivotal eras in this mutilated world. A series of four paired foils whose lives mirror and oppose one another strive for the same goals but clash over conflicting ideals, their bond put to the test.

These pairings are not fate’s meddling, rather the product of circumstance; fault lines in a splintered society. Who would be so cruel as to call it fate when parents are murdered simply because they gave birth to demons?

After humans slaughtered their family, the brother, who takes the guise of man, seeks vengeance through law and order. But his sister, a child who once wanted nothing more than to be human, finally accepts what the world assigns her, leaving trails of blood as she claws her way to revenge.

One goal, two paths; one will prevail, one will bleed. Such is the story of To Bleed a Demon.

The fallout of such trials will rewrite the course of history.

Yet whether it is those children or the other unfortunate pairings yet to come, each epoch forces its duo to question what it means to be human, if that is even a question such abhumans are permitted to ponder.

But even when the collective struggle spans generations, it may all be in vain. For what becomes of a memory when the beholder is dead, when the last shred of reason the world has finally crumbles away? Will their shared defiance be enough to overcome the death of their world? Or will their triumphs amount to nothing, doomed to rot alongside it?

Because this world has its own unique history, many important cultural, technological, and academic advancements shifted, some sooner, some later. As a result, while these eras share a familiar historical soul, they won’t be an exact mirror of our own timeline.

The Remembrance Tetralogy (Read Order):

Note: Due to formatting limitations, godless Godless will typically be styled in this simpler manner.

To Bleed a Demon is currently the primary novel being written, though all three are actively underway as their stories intertwine.

Eventually, many sections exploring the world-building and magic system will become public. These can be viewed in the World-Building section.
